And this may well still be my favorite moment. Matt slipping a subtle impromptu V-gesture into the first episode.
For those who don’t know, the V-gesture basically has the same connotations as the middle finger.

Since he’s American, it’s more likely the V for Victory gesture. If he did a scissors motion, it would be Chopped, but he likely isn’t an MCM fan.

He’s been in the UK long enough to know the meaning, and you could tell from the delivery it was deliberate (“This is my happy face, it goes up on the corners like this”). It was also done when Evans was razzing Matt for his Robin dying, so definitely not a time for a victory sign.

I think you’re wrong. My English friend said it’s not the middle finger connotation, but more like “up yours.”

As far as I know, the “Victory V” has the palm facing out. This is the “Polite English Gentleman Middle Finger V”
